Mixed-use Quarter at Rappenweg
An urban mixed-use development transforming a 25.5-hectare commercial area on Munich’s eastern edge. The masterplan provides for 2,000 to 2,700 homes, half of them subsidised, together with commercial space, shops, restaurants and five childcare facilities. Permeable perimeter blocks frame planted courtyards, while a central green corridor connects the neighbourhood square with the surrounding open spaces. Commercial buildings along the railway help shield the residential areas from noise. The project also incorporates rainwater management, ventilation corridors, green roofs and façades, and new walking, cycling and public transport connections. Together, these elements are intended to create a resilient, well-connected neighbourhood designed for the way Munich will live and work in the future.
